Tae Keller

is the Newbery award winning and #1 New York Times bestselling author of books for children. Her middle grade books include When You Trap a Tiger, Jennifer Chan is Not Alone, and The Science of Breakable Things.  She is also the author of the nonfiction picture book We Carry the Sun, and the elementary fantasy adventure series, Mihi Ever After.

In addition to the Newbery, she is the recipient of the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, the Boston Globe/Horn Book Honor, and the Washington State Book Award. She has received over a dozen starred reviews, and her books have been translated into fifteen languages.

She grew up in Waipahu, Hawaii, where she subsisted on purple rice, sun, and stories. Now, she lives in Seattle with her husband and her dog, a Jack Russell-Italian Greyhound named Butter. In the winters, she ventures into Minnesota’s negative degree weather to teach creative writing at Hamline University’s MFAC program .
