Adapted from the beloved novel by E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web tells the heartwarming story of friendship, loyalty, and the cycle of life on a family farm. When Fern Arable saves the runt of the litter, a pig named Wilbur, he begins a new life in the barnyard, where he meets a host of colorful animals. Despite his friendly nature, Wilbur soon learns that his future is grim—until he befriends Charlotte, a wise and kind-hearted spider. Determined to save Wilbur from the butcher, Charlotte spins miraculous messages in her web that proclaim his greatness, capturing the attention of the humans and turning Wilbur into a local celebrity. As seasons change, the animals experience joy, fear, and loss, ultimately celebrating the enduring power of love and selflessness.

Keep an eye out for a book cart in the Wheelock lobby featuring a curated collection of books in relation to the show! Including titles like, Don’t let the Pigeon-, Bluey, Llama Llama, and Elephant & Piggie, and Make Way For Ducklings. More Than Words is youth-led and employs young people ages 16–24 who are system-involved, including those in foster care, experiencing homelessness, or court-involved. Their mission is to empower youth to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business, building leadership, job skills, and long-term stability along the way through ever-evolving supports.

About the Exhibition: “It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer. Charlotte was both.” Charlotte Was Both highlights how our friendships inspire our creativity. Exhibiting artists from Boston University’s College of Fine arts, this exhibition features a diverse array of artworks from an emerging generation of Boston artists. Depictions of childhood memories of growing up on farms from Iowa to South Korea, glow in the dark fluorescent paintings, and meditations on female friendship will complement the experience of the Wheelock Family Theater’s production of Charlotte’s Web.
