Protect Asian Lives

 In Equity Diversity & Inclusion

Dear Wheelock Family Theatre Community,

We acknowledge that Tuesday’s attacks in Atlanta are part of a rise in racism, violence, and harassment directed toward Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) since the beginning of the global pandemic and a part of a much longer history of discrimination and xenophobia in America. We condemn these and all acts of intolerance and oppression. We are here to counter hate with conversation, activism, and love. To the AAPI members of our community, and all our community, we are committed to channeling our present outrage and sorrow into promoting a better, more inclusive world on stage and off stage.

We are sharing the following list of educational resources to provide historical context and help recognize and speak up against racism. We encourage young people and adults to discuss these materials together.

Sincerely,

Jamie Aznive, Audience Services Manager
Jenna Corcoran, Marketing Coordinator
Jeri Hammond, Education Director
Keith Orr, Administrative Director
Emily Ranii, Artistic Director
Nick Vargas, Associate Artistic/Education Director
